"Whenever you are."
Brindlefoot padded out of the entrance to the camp after the other warrior. She knew that he was not at all happy that she was coming with him, but she did not know why it was such a big deal. It is not like she was loud and obnoxious, or dim witted. What was it that upset him so much, surely it was not just her?
Brindlefoot padded on in silence and then came up even to the tom. After a while of walking in silence, she turned her eyes on him, her pace staying even to his. He was mad and it was probably not a good idea to speak at all, but she was going to anyway. She did not like the thought of anyone being mad at her and her not knowing why. She did not mind of somone was upset for a good reason, but she did not appreciate being treated poorly for no reason at all.
"Is there something that I have done to upset you?"
Her eyes longered on him before she dropped them to her paws. She fully expected a curt or mean answer from the male. The forest was cool and the ground felt good beneath her feet, at least that was some comfort. The sun shown through some of the leaves and dapple her coat in a pattern of light and heat. Dhe took in all of the heat that she could, knowing that soon the earth would be nothing but a cold and vacant place in the depth of leaf-bare.

As he walked out of camp, he looked around, frowning slightly at the fact that it was getting cooler. Soon it would be leaf-bare, and prey would be scarce, which meant he would have to hunt even more for the cats who couldn't do it themselves. At least it would be a chance to prove what a great hunter he was.
Hearing Brindlefoot's question, he looked at her, slightly confused. He wasn't angry at her, just plainly annoyed. He hated having to wait for things, and it had annoyed him when it took her so long to answer. He simply shrugged.
"No, you haven't. Why do you think that?"
He wasn't necessarily interested, nor wanted an answer, but he figured he might as well be polite so he didn't get questioned more. Right now, he just wanted to hunt.

She looke at him and raised a brow. Did he not know how he came across to others? She supposed not, but was glad to hear that he was not angry with her. However his tail still twitched in annoyance and gave away the fact that he was not being entirely honest. Brindlefoot shrugged in answer to his question and then perked her ears to listen for pray.
Not far off she could hear the skittering of small paws and the beating of a live, healthy heart. She dropped into a crouch and crept forward, light on her feet. As she neared the place that she knew the prey occupied, she caught sight of the tan and grey body. The long ears of a rabbit twitched in and out of sight as it listened for danger before continuing on with its buisness. The scent of it reaced her, and her eyes narrowed. In an instant she launced herself on top of the rabbit and bit into the flesh at its neck killing is quickly and without sound, only the slight movement of leaves. As she felt the life go out of it, she let go and dropped it for a moment on the ground to thank Starclan, and then carred it back to the male and laid it before him, waiting to see what he would say.

Hawkgaze watched her as she quickly killed the rabbit. He couldn't help but be impressed, especially at the fact that she was so silent. As she dropped the rabbit in front of him, he nodded slightly in approval.
"Nice catch."
Sniffing the air and pricking his ears, he quickly scented what he recognized as a vole. Listening for it, he heard it scuffling around in a nearby bush. Crouching down, he started quietly stalking towards it, balancing perfectly. His tail dragged across the ground momentarily, but almost instantly he raised up a tiny bit. He made sure he was downwind as he approached the vole. To his luck, he was. He saw it's brown fur briefly, and in that instant, he leapt, missing it as it ran out of the bush. He chased after it, launching himself at it, landing directly on top of it. Digging his claws deep into it's flesh, he nipped its spine, killing it. Picking it up in his jaws, Hawkgaze walked back over to Brindlefoot, dropping the vole beside the rabbit. He looked at her challenginly, as if daring her to comment on how he missed the vole the first try.

Brindlefoot observed how the male stalke his prey. He really was quite elegant in the execution of his leap, but the vole chose that instant to skitter away from his deadly claws. Not for long though, a second leap landed him on top of it and ended another life to go with the one that she herself had taken.
She could not falt him for missing the first time as it was no fault of his own, simple misfortune that it had chosen that moment to move. She knew that he expected her to as he dropped it with her kill and looked up at her, his eyes filled with the dare. Surely he did not think so litlle of her that she would laugh in his face even if it had been his fault? She certainly hopped not.
Instead she smiled at him, eyes sparkling. She was not his enemy, and she wished that he would trust her as a friend.
"Looks tasty!"

Seeing her friendly gaze, Hawkgaze looked slightly relieved. But that relief didn't stay long on his face. Praise didn't count for anything. He had nothing in particular against her, it's just simply a lesson he was taught by his father as a kit, before his father got killed on the thunderpath. He blinked slowly.
"Well, it should. Prey is prey, after all. Shall we bury these and move on?"
He looked down at the rabbit and vole. He didn't bother saying thanks to StarClan. It was him who caught the vole, not StarClan. They had no part in it, so he saw no point in thanking them.

"Sure"
Brindlefoot dug a hole and placed the catch in it, covering it with the earth then looked back at the tom.
"Are you ready?"
They traveled in silence, her not talking because she knew that it was an annoyance to him. If he wished to talk he would make the forst move.

Hawkgaze dug a hole as well, placing his kill in it. He covered it back up, with dirt, then nodded at Brindlefoot.
Walking beside her in silence, he looked around the forest. It was quite a nice day, but Hawkgaze paid no attention. He listened to the chirping of the birds in the trees, or the scuffling of feet in the bushes. He liked the smell of the forest. He pricked his ears a bit more, listening for any intruders, or anything he could fight. That's what he really wanted.

As they walked, there was an uneasy silence between them, but Brindlefoot was lost in her own thoughts. It was beautiful out today. The light of the sun filtered through the trees and dappled the forest floor beneath their feet. Vibrant colors bursted in the trees and on the ground around them. Vibrant oranges, yellows, reds and browns made the forest around them bright at beautiful.
The air was cool, but the heat of the sun balanced it out and made it lovely out. The light danced on her pelt and made it shimmer. Tan, grey, brown, and white shimmered in the sunlight almost opalecent in the light. Her feet were light in the leaves, barely making any sound. She was not very big, somewhat small compared to the other cats in the clan really. Small and petitte, she was able to slip through places that most others were not.
She was pulled from her thoughts by the sound of rustling brush. The fur on her back raised itself up and her ears pricked, her lips pulling back in a snarl. It was not anything good that was coming towards them and she knew it. From the sounds of it, it was big and most likely nasty.
After a moment it broke through the brush before them. A red fox stood before them, growling low in it's throat. This is definately not what she had planned for today. She lowered herself, all her weight on her back feet, ready to spring. A low growl emitted from her own throat. All of the muscles in her body tensed and her eyes flicked to the cat beside her for a moment and then back to the beast before them. The way he was loking at them, it was not going to end any other way than in a fight.

Walking beside her, he enjoyed the warmth on his back from the sun. The sun hit his pelt, and his gray and white fur shone slightly. His feet dragged on the ground slightly, rustling some leaves. He was bigger and more muscular than a lot of cats in the clan. He often liked to gloat about how strong he was. He squinted his eyes as the sun reflected off his amber eyes.
Hearing the bush rustle, he froze beside Brindlefoot, his fur immediately bristling, and his lips drawing back in a furious snarl. When the fox stepped out from the bush, he unsheathed his claws, hissing loudly. Despite his fury, excitement also bubbled in his belly. Finally a chance to prove how great of a fighter he was!
Hawkgaze briefly crouched down, pinpointing where he was going to leap. He looked down at the foxes paws, then, without hesitating, he leapt, but not at the foxes paws, but it's back. He screeched in fury as he landed on the foxes back, digging his claws into its skin.

As the male cannoned into the fox, Brindlefoot gave a yowl and leapt at it herself. Though she looked small and dainty she still had fighting skills. As the male clung to the fox's back, she lept for the throat, locking her teeth in the flesh that was there. The fox froze for a moment and then tried to shake her off.
It shook like a dog shaking off water. When this did not work, it took more drastic measures, gnashing it's teeth and missing her by just a few inches. She kicked at it with her back claws, tearing long gashes in the creatures red fur. It's blood spatterd her paws and she could taste it in her mouth, like salty copper.
As she twisted trying to dig her claws and teeth in further, the fox got lucky. It managed to clamp its teeth into her thigh. She opened her mouth to yowl at the pain and then she was hanging free from its mouth. It shook her vigurously back and forth a few times and then released her, sending her through the air to slam into a nearby tree, and everything went dark....

As the fox shook around, Hawkgaze dug his claws into it's skin deeper, although he could feel himself slipping. He was briefly aware of Brindlefoot fighting the fox as well, but he was too distracted by staying on the fox to worry about her.
As the fox grasped her in its jaws, Hawkgaze looked up, seeing her get shaken around. His eyes widened in shock, and he lashed his claws out at the foxes ear, its blood splattering across his paw. When the fox threw her with a mighty throw, Hawkgaze's eyes widened.
"Brindlefoot!"
Hawkgaze yowled, panic rising in his belly as she hit the ground. He got unbalanced, and thrown off the fox, hitting the ground with a hard thud. Pain shot up from his paw, all the way to his shoulder, and he hissed in fury. He wouldn't let himself be beaten. He forced himself up, no matter how much his leg hurt, and he rounded on the fox, hissing in fury. He lashed his paw out, raking his claws across its muzzle, and he felt warm, sticky blood splatter across his fur. He bubbled with satisfaction, but it only lasted briefly as his leg collapsed beneath him, and he crashed into the ground.

Black, thats all the work was, a spinning mass of black. The air was gone from her lungs and she struggled to get it back, a sharp hot pain ripping through her side. Small quick breaths would have to do for now. She opened her eyes and saw the tom go down inable to put weight on one of his legs. The way that it bent, she knew that it was broken. Blood gushed from the bite marks in her leg, and it felt as if the fox's teeth had made it to bone, but as she looked back up she saw what was about to happen.
The fox was bloodied and battered, but not ready to give up just yet. Blood dripped from its ear and oozed from the claw marks across its nose. She did not know if it was her blood or its own that coated its teeth. But the way that it was looking at her clanmate, if she did notning it would be his coating its teeth.
Without a thought, she launched from the place where she had fallen and hit the fox in the side of the head, knocking it off balance. A growl emited from it, and she reaced out to rake her claws down its nose. After knocking her off, it spun around and came back after her. At the last moment she jumpped into the air and struck out. One of her paws made contact with its target, she felt the pop as three of her claws popped into the foxes eye. It made a noise that she had never before heard and ran off away from the two cats.
Brindlefoot quckly grabbed some spiderwebs from the bushes around her and then found some sturdy sticks. She grabbed a piece of vine that lay nearby and brought them all back to where the tom lay, unable to put weight on his leg. She looked down at the way that the injured leg lay at and odd angle and knew that this was going to get worse before it got better.
Spots swam before her vision but she ignored them and refused to go down when she was needed.
"Your leg is broken. I have to straighten it and splint it or it will not heal right. This is going to hurt, I will not lie to you. Take these. I am sorry."
She dropped the few poppy seeds that she had gathered before him, and then moved to the leg. She laid a stick on either side of the leg and then looked at him and apoligized again. Before he had time to react, put a foot on either side of the break and took his paw carefully in her mouth. As she pulled on the foot, she pressed her paws together and felt the displaced bone click into where it had to be. When this was done, she wrapped the spiderweb around the area to pad it and then used the sticks to make it stable. Carefully she tied the vine tightly around the splint and then sat back to make sure that he had no other injuries that needed to be attended to.
A pool of blood had formed around her from the gashes in her leg, but she faile to notice. The pain in her chest was due to several broken ribs where she had hit the tree, but she let that go unnoticed as well, all her atention was to care for the tom.

Gasping in pain, Hawkgaze's eyes widened as Brindlefoot launched over him, attacking the fox one last time before it ran off. He watched her with graditude, and even a bit of worry. He realized he owed a lot to this she-cat. She had saved his life. Listening to her speak, he nodded slightly, licking up the poppy seeds, then bracing himself for the pain. When she tugged on his foot, he hissed in pain, and resisted the urge to lash his claws across her face. She was only trying to help, he reminded himself. He watched her tie the vine around the splint on his leg, and he nodded gratefully.
"Thank you."
Seeing the pool of blood around her, he stood up, wincing slightly. He limped toward a bush, making sure to keep pressure off of his broken leg. He sniffed around, relieved when he found some cobwebs. He collected them, limping back to the she-cat, and he sat down beside her, pressing the cobwebs against her wounds.
"I'm no medicine cat, so this is the best I can do for now... Again, thank you... You saved my life."
Hawkgaze looked at her gratefully again, and even with respect. He realized that he began to like this she-cat. She would be a good friend to have. Especially a formidable fighter to fight alongside in battle. He hoped that she would be okay. He was unaware of her broken ribs.
Looking around, Hawkgaze hoped that another cat would show up to help them. He wasn't sure if he could make it back to camp on his own, let alone with another cat to support.

"Thank you. I.. didn't realize that he had gotten me that bad."
Dark spots swam before her vision, and she had to close her eyes to ground herself again. She knew that part of it was due to takng so little air ink but there was nothing to be done about that. She had to figure out how to get them home now, they couldn't stay out here, the temperature was already dropping.
Carefully, she moved to the bushes near by and pulled a bough from the tree. The fan of needles made a wide place, wide enough to fit a cat on, yes this would work well. She then took another length of vine and looped it through the branches at the end that was broken. She then pulled it up next to the tom. It would be slow going, but there was no other way, he could not make it back to the camp on that leg.
If you watched her side, you could see the odd way that her ribs moved, nothing close to how they should, but she chose to ignore it, she had to get them to safety.
"Get on. We cant stay here, if the fox comes back we are in serious trouble. And it is too cold, I can smell the snow on its way."
After she helped the tom onto the make-shift sled, she stepped through the vine so that it made a harness, and slowly she began to walk. She didn't know how far she could go, but she was going to go untill it killed her, she couldn't let anything happen to either one of them.
